Welcome to chemistry!

My name is Mrs. Usera. and  I am excited to be your Chemistry teacher this year and I hope you are excited to be in this class as well. This year Mrs. Arzu will be co-teaching with me some of the chemistry classes!

Chemistry is the study of matter and its properties, the changes matter undergoes, and the energy associated with the changes.

The Chemistry course presents a modern view of chemistry with major emphasis on understanding many interactions of matter.

Among the units that comprise the course are:

Physical Behavior of matter

Atomic Concepts

The Periodic Table

Chemical Bonding

Moles/Stoichiometry

Solutions

Acids, Bases, and Salts

Oxidation and Reduction

Organic Chemistry

Nuclear Chemistry

This course is designed to provide you with an intensive look at high school level chemistry, as well as prepare you for taking the New York State Regents “Physical Setting: Chemistry” Exam in June. The course is intense, and it will demand a great amount of effort from you. Reviewing your notes on a daily basis and practicing at least 5 problems daily, are strongly recommended.

This course is enriched with plenty of hands-on activities,  so, even though it is a challenging one, you can still have fun!

I am looking forward to a successful year. If you ever need help, I am available at the end of the school day or e-mail me at [email protected], and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Good Luck!

Yours truly,

Mrs Usera & Mrs. Arzy
