Back to School Information for Parents and Students

August 2023

Dear BCA Students and Parents,

Welcome back!  The official first day of school is Thursday, September 7th.  The school day begins at 8:40 am and ends at 3:10pm.  Please arrive ‘extra-early’ on the first day so that you can pick up your schedules and be on time to your first period class.

This year will feature some traditional annual BCA events as well as some exciting new initiatives.  Some early highlights include our annual Back-To-School BBQ in Rockland County at FDR Park on Friday, September 22nd, and our annual Fright Fest Trip to Six Flags Great Adventure on Friday, October 20th.  (See flyers) One of our new initiatives is our NYCDOE sponsored Future Ready program that will afford students an opportunity to study and receive certifications in a variety of titles in the medical field.  One opportunity that is available to upper-class students who will turn seventeen (17) by June 2024 is an opportunity to become a fully certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) before graduating high school. Our vision is to have students receive skills and credentials that will allow them to be ‘career-ready’ directly after graduation while also exposing them to expanded opportunities in college.

Additional Updates:

  • Emails - This year we are using the NYCDOE emails.  We will no longer be using our domain.  Students who need support in accessing their accounts will receive guidance on the first day of school.
  • School Supplies – Come to school on the first day with the basic supplies – folders, notebooks or binders with loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, etc. Teachers will let you know on the first day if you need anything additional for their classes.
  • 9th Grade Students – We will be hosting an orientation on Tuesday, September 5th, at 12pm in the 1st floor gym. Students will receive their ID and class schedule as well as have an opportunity to meet teachers.
