AP US History

AP US History | This course will give students a college-level experience examining the founding and evolution of the American republic from pre-European contact until our present day society. Throughout the course, students will engage with a variety of primary and secondary resources addressing the political, cultural, economic, social, and diplomatic history of the United States. Students will use these resources and critical thinking skills to effectively participate in class discussions, debates, and argumentative writing assignments. Students will develop and support thesis papers addressing different course themes. The course will be divided into different time periods and selected themes will be addressed and readdressed throughout the different units. Selected controversial issues will be examined with primary and secondary sources from multiple perspectives. The course concludes with the AP United States History exam, which may earn students college credit with a passing score.
