FUN LAB!!!! Using a source of DNA, (food, like veggies, fruit or even chicken), you can separate the DNA with materials you would find in your kitchen. Follow the directions, and be sure to take pictures!!! (Attach to this assignment). Enjoy this - have fun!

EXTRA CREDIT INTERACTIVE LABS ARE HERE!!! Follow the link to go to the Labster site. Log in with Google, and then enter your name into the fields where it asks you to. You will then be directed to the Labster High School Site. There are lab simulations for High School Biology - you can choose as many to complete as you wish, and you can do whatever ones you want to. We have access to this site until 1/1/21, so they need to be completed before then. You need to fill out a Google Form, (attached here,) for each simulation that you complete to get credit. You will need to take a screen shot of the completed lab with score screen, as well, for the form. Reach out if you have any questions.

There have been so many people who have contributed to our well-being during this pandemic, and many that have gone unnoticed and under appreciated. Take time to think of someone you know - a family member, neighbor, friend, etc. who has helped or continues to help others during this difficult time. Ideas include: Hospital and Nursing Home Workers, (not just nurses and doctors, but all people who work in these facilities), Grocery Store Clerks, Police Officers, Bus Drivers, Paramedics, FireFighters, Letter Carriers, Scientists, Truck Drivers, Sanitation Employees, Food Service Employees, etc. There are too many to list! (See the attached picture for more ideas).

In the project, you MUST INCLUDE:
1. Name of person and their Job Title/Where they work
2. Picture of the person, (if possible)
3. Expression of gratitude - why you are thankful for them (Must be at least 2
paragraphs with 5 or more sentences each)
4. How this person has been an essential worker
5. Anything else that you would like to add to make them feel appreciated
6. Give this to the person, if possible

Create a Public Service Announcement about the importance of hand washing using information from the infographic. You can create a short video, radio broadcast (sound only), poster, or slideshow. Create a model of one of the human body systems in 2D or 3D. It can be made out of paper, clay, straws, food... ANYTHING you can imagine. You can even draw it on a poster or make it virtually on a Jamboard or as a Google Drawing. You can choose from: Skeletal System (bones and skull!), Nervous System (brain!), Digestive System (guts!), or Circulatory System (blood/heart!) Make it extra fun by turning it into a monster....You could even have multiple systems showing at once (ZOMBIES, VAMPIRES, AHHHH!!!!) There are tons of ideas online - even videos to walk you through making these things. The more effort you put into it, the more credit you will earn! You can earn up to 5 missing assignment grades for this 1 project! If you are all caught up, then you can still earn 5 extra credit points on top of your current average! See the rubric for details.

Sign into Actively Learn and complete the reading on Plant Cell Structures. Remember that you should annotate and highlight as you read - answer all questions with complete sentences and as much detail as possible. If the question asks for text evidence, give text evidence.

Read the article, then fill in the answers on the document. If you are unable to fill in the answers, (you should be able to click on the space and type the answers in), you can write the answers on a separate sheet of paper or a google doc and attach it to the assignment. OR YOU CAN USE KAMI TO WRITE INTO IT.

Go to the attached link for a Virtual Lab on the Microscope. After you go through the activity once, open the Jamboard file and do the activities on the slides, (there are 4 slides). If you need to go back to the Virtual Lab for help, THAT"S OK! If you want to complete more activities for extra credit, PLEASE DO!
